Eight Attacks Per Round

December 22, 2023

II saw a silly meme in my memories tonight and decided to let the autism take me.

Average DnD Commoner has 4hp and 10 Strength. In 5e, you can lift 30x your Strength score. The average commoner is a beefy farmhand that can lift 300lbs. Stronger than the average American man. Probably the average global man.

Level 20 Fighter probably has +5 Strength and Greatswords deal 2d6 damage. That's 2d6+5 damage per swing.

A fighter going nova and attacking 8 times will deal 7-19 damage, 8 times. The average nova burst from this warrior would be 144 damage, enough damage to take down thirty-six commoners. Statistically speaking, each of those attacks will generate enough force to kill or mortally wound 2 commoners about 92% of the time. That's 3 people that can lift and carry 300lbs. A single sword swing that could kill two people like that 92/100 times is nothing to sneeze at.

Doing that 8 times, while jogging 30 feet in 50lbs of plate armor in 6 seconds is COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE for 98% of earth's population. And I'm being very generous.

And if we started making concessions in the average person's favor: 90% if given an hour, maybe 75-80% if you give them a month of full time training.

The number of people capable of doing this never ever crosses 50% in unrealistically ideal circumstances. It likely never crosses 25%, realistically speaking.

So yes, Warriors popping action surge and deleting the campaign boss in a single round is every bit as magical as your shitty wizard blowing them up with a fireball.
